Sleeping in Merino Wool

Sleeping in Merino Wool

We all know the importance of a good night's sleep and many of us will do anything we can to get one!

Over the last couple of years our little team have been keen to create a sleepwear collection as we have been exposed to many studies that have shown how sleeping in Merino wool can lead to a better night's sleep. Our dad Warwick (founder of Woolerina) has been sleeping in wool for many years now and swears by it!

A study conducted by researchers at The University of Sydney found adults wearing wool to bed fell asleep faster compared with those wearing cotton and polyester.

“Wool helps regulate your body temperature, keeping you in what is known as 'the thermal comfort zone' for longer,” explains Associate Professor Chin Moi Chow from The University of Sydney. “You therefore not only fall asleep quicker, but also have deeper, less fragmented sleep.”

When developing the fabric for our sleepwear collection we chose to blend our Merino (70%) with Tencel (30%) in our favourite interlock knit construction. Tencel is also a natural, biodegradable fibre and known for its extreme softness and 'silky' feel. In combining the Merino fibre with Tencel, we have created a fabric that is warm, soft and silky, making it ideal to sleep in. By adding the Tencel it allows for the wearer to move freely in bed without the fabric bunching or clinging to the sheets.

We are extremely excited about our sleepwear collection and hope it brings many of you a better night's rest. Sleep tight in your Woolerina sleepwear, we'd love you to drop us a line and let us know what you think!
