MEET OUR FRIENDS BEN AND JESS STANLEY

MEET OUR FRIENDS BEN AND JESS STANLEY

Ben and Jess are two very clever chefs who own catering business Eat Your Greens in Eugowra, NSW, which they purchased in 2015. They specialise in catering for parties, weddings, balls, graduations - basically if you need a caterer of delicious food, they are the go-to!

Their cooking style could be described as refined, wholesome, hearty and creative.

Ben and Jess have a love of travel and during their training they travelled a lot and were lucky to have worked under some big name chefs, with some highlights including Lilianfels in the Blue Mountains and wineries in the Margaret River region of WA.

Ben loves cooking with meat, his barrel smoker or over the fire however Jess does not like smoke in her eyes – she loves baking or anything to share with friends and family and loves to style their food.

We’d love you to get to know Ben and Jess a little better.

1.     What do you love about having a business in a small country town?
So much! The support of all the locals wanting to see you succeed, the way they celebrate with you - we are constantly having boxes of citrus left on the verandah with a "thought you could use this"! We love employing locals, especially high school kids and seeing their transformation and growth over the years. Particularly when they come back and call in to say hi.

2.    What do you love most about Winter?
I love the cosiness of Winter evenings - a glass of local red wine and something hearty and nourishing for dinner. I also love that we don't have to worry about snakes! We also use Winter as a slower time, a chance to take a little step back and catch up on life. So many of our Sundays in Winter see us heading up to Nangar National Park with the kids for a chance to switch off without phone service...bliss!!

3.     What is your favourite thing to eat in Winter?
I am all for the soup and good bread! Red lentil soup, a good squeeze of lemon and olive oil. It would have to be one of my favourites.

4.     What is one thing you do daily that is a non-negotiable?
A long black coffee in bed before sunrise. We are both early risers so the first up makes the coffee!

5.    How do you wear your Woolerina pieces and what is your favourite?
I have been wearing my Woolerina long sleeve crew neck so much! It looks stylish, does not stretch and has the most beautiful feel to it. I also use my Woolerina X Waverley Mills blanket most mornings as it has a permanent spot on our armchair.
