Reflecting on 20 years of Woolerina, these photos were our very first campaign shots, taken in our local Scout Hall in 2005 by well-know Forbes photographer, Jack Meagher. It was Jack’s idea to gather locals to showcase Woolerina, rather than paid models, as we aimed to capture the essence of Woolerina as clothing designed to be worn by people of all shapes and sizes, and from all walks of life. The idea to use friends and locals quickly became the core of nearly every campaign shoot across the last 20 years.
When we launched the very first collection in 2006 there were just four styles – two for women and two for men. The initial designs were created by Warwick’s wife and Penny and Pippa’s mum, Robyn, who had a background in fashion design and pattern making. Simple styling and basic lines were the foundation for theses original designs and these principles continued to be at the heart of all the designs we created across 20 years of collections.
Back in 2006 we attended a handful of events to showcase our products including the Wimmera Field Days at Horsham, the Celebration of Wool in Canberra and Mudgee Small Farm Field Days – some of the people who trusted our new brand back then are still some of our most loyal customers today! This was also back in the days before online shopping was “a thing”, so we would occasionally receive orders over the phone and sometimes even in the post, as good old-fashioned mail orders – how things have changed!
