Woolerina x Fiona Schofield

We are extremely excited to be collaborating with Fiona Schofield Millnery to bring you two gorgeous winter hat styles created exclusively for Woolerina - 'The Torig' and 'The Lachlan'.
Fiona Schofield runs her own small business not far from us at Orange NSW; she has had her own label for the last 17 years. Fiona is a formally trained milliner, with a background in design and has worked in and around the industry for over 30 years.
We approached Fiona a few months ago to see if she would be keen to collaborate with us. Pen and I have both known Fiona for a few years and are lucky enough to own a few of her beautiful hats. We love her ethos and we were keen to work with her to create hats that complemented our collection.
I will hand it over to Fiona for her to share with you just why she said yes to a collaboration with Woolerina!

The opportunity to collaborate with Woolerina was a no brainer for me. I grew up in the small regional town of Forbes, where Woolerina is based, and I can’t help but wonder how greatly my original design path would have benefited had such an amazing resource been on my creative doorstep back then. I have memories of 'Torig Park' as an orchard in my childhood, so it is amazing to see the transformation to the showroom and work space that inhabits its beautiful surroundings of open paddocks and long established gum trees today. This is truly a family business in every way, from founder Warwick Rolfe and his great passion for the wool industry, to his clever daughters - Penny and Pippa who now bring their skills to the offering.

Interestingly, our enterprises both started around the same time (FSM in 2004 and Woolerina in 2005). Our paths have crossed back and forth over the years, but our connection really probably kicked off via the Australian National Field Days, held in Orange. Woolerina were an exhibitor and I was coordinator of the onsite Fashion Parades showcasing the on site brands (a side gig I had when getting my own business up and running) Not surprisingly, our ethos is similar too, and like my hats, their garments are built on a philosophy of 'style over fashion’ and ‘quality over quantity’.

This season, we have worked together to bring two hat styles from my workroom to compliment the 2021 seasonal garments from their own work space.
The Torig", named for the location of Woolerina’s headquarters, is a simple and stylish hat, featuring a soft, round crown and fluid brim.

The Lachlan”, named for the river that flows past the edge of the Woolerina property and around and through the township of Forbes, offers a slick fedora crown and neat, mid-sized brim.

Each style is available to be ordered in either Charcoal Marle or Flannel Grey Marle wool felt, trimmed using Woolerina's signature binding in seasonal coloured bands from the AW21 collection. Each hat is made to order to your sizing to ensure the perfect fit and comes packaged in a beautiful hat box.
